Myrto Papathanou has 15 years of work experience in the fields of finance and entrepreneurship, and has also been involved in several non-profit projects around the world. She started her career in banking in London, working as a credit risk and portfolio analyst for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and later as a Fixed Income Strategist of European and Asian portfolios for Bank of America. Returning to Greece in 2007, she headed Business Development and Service Operations for CPI, a listed Greek ICT company, and since 2010 has been involved in technology start ups, co-founding an e-commerce and a clean tech company.
She has been involved in Microfinance schemes in Nicaragua and Kenya, focusing on empowering women through entrepreneurship. In 2012 she co-founded non profit Volunteer4Greece.gr, an online platform to connect volunteers and NGOs. In 2013 she also co-founded Action Finance Initiative (AFI), aiming at introducing microfinance in Greece and provide aspiring micro entrepreneurs with initial liquidity and know how to set up their own small business.
Myrto is an economist, with an MSc in Finance from Imperial College and an MBA from INSEAD. She has four small children, George, Aris, Margarita and Alexandra, and she loves hiking and exploring the outdoors with her family.
